After taking a career break when my children were young, I decided in 2015 that it was time to get back to work.
I was lucky enough to secure an admin role for two and a half days a week at West Ewell Primary School. The role was a job share responsible for school admissions, covering reception and general administration. After about a year, the role increased to three days a week.
With the roll-out of GDPR, I began to work four days per week and took on responsibility for liaising with the Trust to embed our GDPR procedures.
When my job share partner left the school in 2019, I began working full-time and was able to establish myself as the lead administrator in the Admin Team and the go-to person for questions and queries, both from staff and parents.
The following year, I took over responsibility for HR and also became PA to the Leadership Team. I remained in that role until February 2023, when I was appointed Office Manager.
I feel very lucky in my career journey at West Ewell. The school’s leadership have been a great support and inspiration and have always encouraged me to advance and take on additional roles and responsibilities.
I’ve been able to expand my knowledge and learn new skills, and have relished all the new opportunities the school have afforded me. I am proud to be a member of staff at West Ewell Primary School.
