As we mark the close of Children's Mental Health Week, we celebrate our schools’ commitment to emotional wellbeing, developing thoughtful, tailored approaches that put our students' mental health at the heart of everything they do.
Across our network of schools, mental health awareness is woven into the fabric of daily life to promote emotional intelligence and self-regulation. Students are supported to understand not just what they learn, but how they learn, developing practical strategies for managing challenges both in and out of the classroom through mental health awareness techniques, mindfulness practices and personal development tools.
What did our schools do during Children’s Mental Health Week?
To mark Children's Mental Health Week, our schools have embraced additional wellbeing activities, using the expertise of organisations such as Kooth and Place to Be, with students participating in energising 'Wake up, shake up' sessions, yellow balloon and mufti celebrations and watching films like 'Inside Out' to explore emotions together. PSHE lessons and "Know yourself, Grow yourself" assemblies encouraged self-discovery, while subject-specific activities explored topics such as the science of emotions and mindfulness to complement quiet spaces and sessions about seeking help, personal growth and goal setting.
Understanding that mental wellbeing extends beyond school walls, our schools also prioritised supporting our families through practical resources and targeted workshops, helping to create a support system where emotional health is understood, discussed and actively nurtured.
And beyond Children’s Mental Health Week…
As we come to the end of an incredibly positive week, our journey continues, encouraging our students of all ages to grow in self-confidence and resilience. Together, we will ensure that we prioritise mental health, fostering communities where emotional wellbeing is not just supported, but remains a cornerstone of our educational approach throughout the year.
