Digital Learning and AI Lead

We are seeking a Digital Learning and AI Lead to join our team at Bourne Education Trust.

The Digital Learning and AI Lead will play a pivotal role in advancing the Bourne Education Trust's digital education strategy, contributing strategic insight alongside operational support to the Head of Digital Education and AI. Whilst this is a support staff role the Digital Learning and AI Lead requires school-based, teaching leadership experience to effectively drive the successful strategic implementation and embedding of the trust-wide 1:1 iPad programme, develop and deliver comprehensive AI literacy initiatives and training for staff, students, and parents, actively support schools engaging with the Trust's 'AI in Education School Certification Framework', and support our network of school-based Digital Leaders. This role is crucial for building capacity, fostering innovation, ensuring initiatives align with school improvement priorities, and embedding effective and ethical use of technology to enhance teaching and learning across the trust and beyond.

Details

Position: Digital Learning and AI Lead

Contract: Permanent, full time (36 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum)

Start Date: 1st September 2025

Salary: £55,000 - £63,000

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the Head of Digital Education & AI, IT teams and schools’ digital leaders to manage the logistical roll out and strategic embedding of the 1:1 iPad scheme across trust schools, ensuring alignment with pedagogical goals.
  • Design, develop and deliver high-quality resources and training programmes to build AI literacy among staff, students and the wider parent community, ensuring relevance to the school context.
  • Assist in the coordination and operation of the 'BET Futures' group, supporting the piloting and research of emerging educational technologies and pedagogical approaches with a view to strategic adoption.
  • Support the Head of Digital Education & AI in delivering a broader range of digital skills training across the trust, ensuring content is strategically aligned with trust priorities.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Head of Digital Education & AI, schools’ digital leadership teams, teaching staff, IT support and other stakeholders, leveraging understanding of school structures.

Requirements include:

Essential

  • Proven experience working within a school at a middle leadership level (e.g. Head of Department, Phase Leader, Subject Lead, school-based Digital Lead) with demonstrable responsibility for the strategic planning and implementation of whole-school or departmental initiatives, particularly involving digital learning or technology.
  • Significant experience in planning, delivering and evaluating effective training programmes for teaching staff and, ideally, students.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, influence stakeholders and meet deadlines.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Desirable

  • Experience of an iPad 1:1 programme implementation.
  • Further leadership qualifications (e.g. NPQML, NPQSL).
  • Apple Teacher or Apple Professional Learning Specialist certification (or willingness to work towards).
